Our iPad Journey
In an ever-changing, increasingly digitally literate world, where technological skills are becoming more essential on a global scale, we believe that we must equip our pupils fully for their futures. At Golborne St Thomas’, we are committed to providing our students with the best possible learning experiences. As part of this commitment, we have embarked on an exciting journey to integrate technology into our curriculum by investing in iPads for all students in Key Stages 1 and 2. We are proud to offer an ambitious curriculum that incorporates the very best available technology, which challenges and inspires our pupils. Here’s why we believe this initiative is crucial for our students’ development and future success.
Why iPads?
- Personalised and Inclusive Learning: iPads allow us to tailor educational experiences to each student’s needs. With a vast range of educational apps, resources and accessibility features, teachers can adapt instructions and tasks, ensuring that every child is challenged and supported at their own pace.
- Engagement and Motivation: Interactive and multimedia content on iPads makes learning more engaging. Students are naturally drawn to technology, and using iPads in the classroom helps maintain their interest and enthusiasm for learning.
- Developing Digital Skills: In an increasingly digital world, it is essential for students to develop strong digital literacy skills. Using iPads helps students become proficient with technology, preparing them for future academic and career opportunities.
- Collaborative Learning: iPads enable students to easily collaborate with their peers. Through various apps and platforms, they can work together on projects, share ideas, and provide feedback, fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
- Access to Up-to-Date Resources: With iPads, students have instant access to the latest information and educational resources. This ensures they are learning from current and relevant materials, which is particularly important in subjects like science and technology.
- Environmental Benefits: Reducing our reliance on paper helps us to be more environmentally conscious. Digital textbooks, worksheets, and assignments minimise the need for printed materials, contributing to a more sustainable future.
Our 1:1 iPad Rollout
We are proud to announce that we have achieved a 1:1 iPad rollout for both Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2). This means that every student has their own iPad to use for learning in the classroom. We aim to be a beacon of excellence in our pedagogical approaches and offer support to many local and regional schools.
Looking Ahead
Our iPad journey is just the beginning. We are continuously exploring new ways to enhance our curriculum and teaching methods through technology. By staying at the forefront of educational innovation, we aim to provide our students with the tools and skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
