Welcome from the Head

Welcome to St Thomas’ Church of England Junior and Infant School.

We are a single form entry Church of England primary school located in Golborne, Wigan. As a voluntary aided school, we form part of the Diocese of Liverpool and have strong links with St Thomas’ Church.

Our children are at the heart of everything we do at St Thomas’. We are extremely proud of all their achievements. Teaching and learning are of a high standard, ensuring that all children succeed. We nurture and value their natural curiosity, their desire to learn and explore, through a broad, balanced curriculum. We understand the importance of learning through experience and enrichment.

The ethos of St Thomas’ is modelled around our Christian values. These are taught to the children and modelled by all members of the school community.

At St Thomas’ we recognise the important role that parents play with their child’s education and development. Positive relationships are built between home and school, and we encourage all parents to be actively involved. Our open-door policy ensures that we are on hand to provide any support necessary.

If you would like any further information or would like to arrange a visit to our school, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Mrs Joanne Woods, Headteacher

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO THE LAW
REGARDING PENALTY NOTICES FOR
UNAUTHORISED ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL

A new National Framework for Penalty Notices for school absence, including unauthorised holiday absence, is being introduced following changes to the law. These new Government regulations will come into effect from 19 August 2024, and we wanted to bring this to your attention now, as it will affect when penalty notices are issued in Wigan.
